Why Do You Need to Use a Bibliography?
Why Do You Need to Use a Bibliography?A bibliography is an essential tool in researching a manuscript for publication, and often, an author will add a bibliography to the end of their manuscript in order to save time and effort. Unfortunately, there are times when an author will write a bibliography without being clear about its purpose. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss two common reasons why an author might use a bibliography in the manuscript they are working on.If you are working on a manuscript for publication, you may have a lot of other things on your mind other than trying to come up with a bibliography. This is especially true if you are working on a manuscript that is far from complete. As a result, you may find yourself coming up with an insufficient bibliography. This can be frustrating, and you may find yourself turning away from your manuscript entirely because of it.If this is the case, you should really rethink what a bibliography is. Do not consider the bib liography to be a back-up plan. If your manuscript is already finished, do not take the bibliography for granted. It should be considered as one more step along the path to publishing your work. If it is not included, then the editor may not even read your manuscript and that will hurt your chances for publication.Another reason why you should include a bibliography is if you are editing your manuscript. Many editors will choose to read each chapter on their own. For this reason, they will look at your bibliography just to see if they can find your source material in each chapter. If this is the case, make sure you include your bibliography as part of your manuscript's author bio. This is the first place they will see the bibliography, so make sure it is complete. Make sure it includes your titles, first author and last name. The names of the authors and the specific references should also be listed. Finally, the bibliography should be used only when there is no choice. If the editor needs to look up a reference for a certain chapter, they will need to use your bibliography. In addition, if you need to find a particular author, it may be necessary to put his or her name in your bibliography. By using it in this way, it makes it easy for anyone who is looking for the author to find him or her. Finally, I will finish by suggesting that you think about how many bibliographies you actually need. If you are working on several manuscripts, the bibliography could become an unnecessary expense. Keep in mind that just because you have one bibliography doesn't mean that you have to keep it in the manuscript.Use your bibliography as a reference tool, but be careful not to get too hung up on the number of them you use. If you find that you need a bibliography, it is OK to start out with just one bibliography and later, add more when the manuscript is finished.
